Fall walk

Dear Mom and Dad:

We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our parent volunteers who helped us on our fall walk today! We could not have done it without you.

We had to look for many different things that were on our scavenger hunt sheet. Ask me to tell you what I saw. It was so much fun! Please enjoy our photos!

Question of the day: What did you see on our fall walk today?

"It's all good" Wednesday

Dear Mom and Dad:

Mrs. Ly and the other half of Mrs. Dei Cont’s class had drumming today.

We looked at a book that had a lot of information about fall. I learned some things about what animals do, what happens to the weather, what happens to the leaves etc.

Today I drew a picture in my journal of what I think I might see tomorrow on our fall walk (Please make sure I am dressed appropriately tomorrow. Layers are always best). Ask me to tell you what colors I used most to represent my fall picture. I then practiced writing the word “fall” on the line in my journal.

We have been reading Pete the Cat books. My teacher says that we should all try to be like Pete the Cat. Ask me to tell you why? We have been talking about what a little problem versus a big problem is. Most little problems I can solve on my own by making good choices. Please read this story with me. Here is a video of the author Eric Litwin reading the book!

Question of the day: What lesson did we learn from Pete the Cat?

Fall is in the air!

"This is a Mosasaurs. They eat meat and they are sea creatures and they are the biggest dinosaurs in Jurassic world!" Baron and Evan building at centre time

Dear Mom and Dad:

Ms. Cvach was away today so we had a guest teacher.

I worked with Mrs. Southworth, Mrs. Tuli and Mrs. Jones today. We are working on learning about each other and making new friends. Ask me to tell you of some of the friends’ names that I learned today.

I am getting really good at learning my routines in kindergarten. We continue to work on quickly lining up after we are playing on the playground outside for gym. Please have a conversation with me about why it is important to line up right away.

Thank you for helping me post all of my comments about what signs of fall I notice!

Question of the day: if I know the word fall then I can read and write other words! Can you think of words that rhyme with fall? We learned that if you take the first letter away from fall and add another letter, we can make a new word. Please help me think of words that have ____all in it and post it on the blog!

One world drumming

Dear Mom and Dad:

Ms. Cvach was away today so we had a guest teacher. We wrote in our writing journals today about what we did on the weekend. I continue to work on drawing a detailed picture and practice writings name on the lines. Some of us are trying our best to do some kid writing. Kid writing is inventive spelling using the sounds we know to form words. Some of us are practicing labelling our pictures with the sounds we hear.

Ms. Cvach's students and half of Mrs. Dei Cont's students had drumming today!

We read a book called "Red Leaf Yellow Leaf". We are beginning to look at the changes in the season and wondered about some of the changes we have been noticing. We will be going on a fall walk this Thursday to look for signs of fall and collect some fall artifacts.

Question of the day: What are some of the changes you are noticing outside and the clothes you wear?

Open House

Dear Parents:

It was an absolute pleasure meeting you at Open House tonight. We are so lucky to have such an amazing parent and family community. We hope you enjoyed your child sharing their work with you. We understand that some parents may not have been able to come and that’s ok! We have a student learning walks in October and a few throughout the year. The blog that you are reading is also the perfect way to keep connected of what is happening in your child’s classroom.

We had a “hope and dream loom” for parents to write their wishes for their child in kindergarten. If you missed it and would like to write something you can just cut a strip of paper about an inch wide and about 20cm long on any color paper and write a note and send it to school with your child.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Lisa Ly, Krispin Dei Cont, Trish Cvach

There is no school this Friday because of PD day.
