Wonderful Wednesday!

Dear Mom and Dad:

AM: This morning we used oil pastels! Ask me to tell you what these are like. We created a pattern using the pastels.

PM: We continued our work with patterns today. We worked in partners and I had to extend my partner’s pattern. This can be tricky because I need to carefully look at the core of my partner’s pattern. We learned that the core of a pattern is the part that repeats.

Question of the day: Thank you for making patterns yesterday and posting it on our blog. For today’s post, see if you can FIND a pattern somewhere in your home and post what it is on the blog!

Patterns and Dot and Dash

Dear Mom and Dad:

AM: We continued our work with patterns today. We worked in partners and I had to extend my partner’s pattern. This can be tricky because I need to carefully look at the core of my partner’s pattern. We learned that the core of a pattern is the part that repeats.

PM: We worked with our guest teachers today on dot and dash and scratch. Ask me to tell you what we worked on!

Question of the day: Make a pattern with objects found around the house and post on the blog what materials you used and what your pattern is.

Kindergarten

Housekeeping:

Parents, please note that your child needs to come through the kindergarten doors at the beginning of the day. We have had some issues where parents are sending their students through the front office. Having your child line up with the rest of the kindergarten students will allow them some time to socialize with their friends outside as well as foster independence as we prepare them for grade 1. Thank you for your support with this.

**Tanga Art

Parents can purchase their child’s art for $10.00. All of the proceeds go directly to Tanga School in Tanzania.

If you have not purchased your child’s art and would like to, please send in $10 with your child and they will be able to take their art home. Thank you!

All of the proceeds go directly to Tanga School in Tanzania. Dear Mom and Dad:

Thank you to those who wore PINK to represent that bullying is not ok! We read a story called "The Invisible Boy". Ask me to tell you about this story. We talked about the important message this book brings. We discussed how some of us might have felt like we were invisible before. We all made a promise that we would always try to not make others feel invisible and continue to be bucket fillers.

Today we focused on the letter Rr. We listened to the Jolly Phonics song. Ask me to tell you what sound Rr makes.

We did a guided drawing of a rabbit as well! Ask me toe draw you the upper case and lower case letter of Rr in the air. Please remind me to start my letters at the top. I can practice writing Rr’s for you as well.

Question of the day: Post on the blog what you did in your literacy groups today.

Kindergarten
