Welcome back

Dear Mom and Dad:

After a full week of physical activity with our swimming curriculum, we are back and ready to get back into our classroom routine. Mrs. Monteith's last day was on Thursday. We missed having her in our classroom today but wish her well as she embarks on her journey as a teacher!

AM: we started off the morning with a knowledge building cirxle (KBC). Ask me to tell you what this is. Today the topic was about ladybugs. We then did a guided drawing of a lady bug and wrote in our journals

PM: ask me to tell you what we did with our guest teachers this afternoon. Ask me to tell you about some of the new centres we have as well.
PM parent volunteers. Please re-email Lindsay Ingram (email is in left upper column) if you would like to volunteer. Her computer shut down and she does not have all of your emails anymore. Thank you!

Question of the day: post on the blog what you know or wonder about ladybugs.

Swimming Week

*Our next new blog post will be next Tuesday. There is no school on Friday and Monday.

Day one of swimming was a success!

Parents could you please have your child take off and put on their clothes independently. This will help them be independent during swimming this week.

Thank you to all of our parent volunteers! Parents, if you are volunteering please meet us at the pool. Please also keep in mind that you are there to help all of the students and not just your own. Thank you for your help and time, we really appreciate it :)

SWIMMING

**The whole kindergarten triad will be taking one bus at the same time. But our swimming program is split into two groups. The way that our swim schedule has been booked, there is very little time for a snack.

-Please send your child with only ONE dry snack instead of a wet snack.  - A dry snack is something that doesn’t need to be wiped up if spilled. A wet snack are things like yogurt, apple sauce, jello etc.
- Please choose or pack the snack item so that it is easy to open. For example, If it is a granola bar, cutting a slit ahead of time will be helpful so your child can open it independently.

Please review the blue letter that was given to you last month so you know what you need to pack. It would be very helpful if your child ate a big meal before sending them to school.

AM class: NEXT WEEK, all AM students need to be at the kindergarten doors no later than 8:00am instead of 8:15am. The bus leaves at 8:15am so we will be letting the students in at 8:00am. Students will need to be picked up at the kindergarten doors at 11:00am.

Drop off: 8:00am at door 2 (kindergarten doors)
Pick up: 11:00am at door 2 (kindergarten doors)

PM class: NEXT WEEK, all PM students need to be at the kindergarten doors no later than 12:00pm. The bus leaves at 12:15pm. Students will need to be picked up at the kindergarten entrance doors at 2:50pm.

Drop off: 12:00pm at door 2 (kindergarten doors)

Pick up: 2:50pm at door 2 (kindergarten doors)

I Wish...

Did you know we have a classroom website! Check out some of our photos

Kindergarten website

Dear Mom and Dad of AM kindergarten:

Ask me to tell you about a cool sprint art activity we did today! We talked about wishes and had to come up with one wish we had. We needed to write one wish that was not about material things but about
Something we wish for the world, or ourselves to promote a peaceful community. Ask me to tell you what I wrote about.

We watched the grade ¾’s present an assembly. Ask me to tell you what it was about. The theme of their presentation was about refugees and immigrants. We are definitely lucky to be in Canada and go to Cranston School

Question of the day: What are you most excited for when we go swimming?

Signs of Spring and Community Building

Dear Mom and Dad:

AM class: Have you noticed the different signs of spring? Ask me to tell you some of the things I have noticed. Today we drew in our visual journals 4 different signs of spring. I had to draw a detailed picture and label my drawing.

PM class: Today we worked with Mrs. Southworth and Mrs. Quilley. We are working on community building skills. These skills are so important as we make the connections outside of kindergarten. We played some games that helped me learn to take turns and be respectful of others while they are sharing. We also learned a lot about one another.

Question of the week: What is a gorilla roll?

GYMNASTICS
We have a “Kids’s Move” gymnastics program in the gym this week. Students are required to remove their shoes and socks. Parents please send your child in loose clothing so that it is easier for them to move around. Please avoid stockings, as these will take long to take off and put back on. Thank you for your help with this. If your child has long hair, please tie it in a ponytail as well. Thank you.

AM class: we will be dismissing from the red gym doors at the end of the morning this week.
