The Invisible Boy

Tanga evening is on tomorrow from 6:00pm – 7:30pm at Cranston School. Parents can come and look at their child’s art and purchase the art for $10.00. All of the proceeds go directly to Tanga School in Tanzania. If you are not able to make it and would like to purchase your child’s art, please e-mail your teacher and they will put a SOLD sticker on their art. You can send the money with your child to school.

Dear Mom and Dad:

Thank you to those who wore PINK to represent that bullying is not ok! We read a story called "The Invisible Boy". Ask me to tell you about this story. We talked about the important message this book brings. We discussed how some of us might have felt like we were invisible before. We all made a promise that we would always try to not make others feel invisible and continue to be bucket fillers.

Today we focused on the letter Rr. We listened to the Jolly Phonics song. Ask me to tell you what sound Rr makes.

We did a guided drawing of a rabbit as well! Ask me toe draw you the upper case and lower case letter of Rr in the air. Please remind me to start my letters at the top. I can practice writing Rr’s for you as well.

Question of the day: Post on the blog what you did in your literacy groups today.

Love,
Kindergarten

Patterns in our day

Dear Mom and Dad:

We continued practicing our dribbling skills today in gym.

We plan to go to the learning commons either tomorrow or Thursday. Please make sure you return your books! Thank you!

AM: I can show you how to make 10!  Ask me to tell you what we did with pipe cleaners and beads. I had to show my teacher and tell my teacher different ways to make 10

PM: Ask me to tell you about Dash and Dot! We also sketched an alevin. Ask me to tell you what an alevin looks like!

Question of the day: We have been talking about lifecycles with out trout. We noticed that a lifecycle is like a pattern. Ask me to tell you what the routine is at home in the evening that could represent a pattern.. For example: Mrs. Ly eats dinner, takes Kendrick for a walk,  gets ready for bed, sleep. I learned that the routines I do in my day is a pattern because I have the same routine everyday!

Welcome back Mrs. Monteith

Dear Mom and Dad:

Today we said hello again to Mrs. Monteith! Mrs. Monteith was working with us from November to December and she is back with us now until the end of April. We learned that she is going to teacher school at the University of Calgary and we have become her teachers to help her learn.

We did journal writing today. Ask me to tell you what I wrote about. We are working on doing "I got it!" work. This means that I did a green happy face work. Ask me to tell you when I know that "I got it!". I should be adding details to my pictures, using kid writing to express my ideas or label my picture and using 3 or more colors in my drawings.

Ask me to tell you what new center we have today! We will all get a chance to go to it during the course of the next couple of weeks!

AM class; In gym, we worked on our passing skills for basket ball. Tell me what a bounce pass is.

PM class: We practiced counting to 10 over and over again to count to 100. Ask me to tell you how many I counted today with my items that I brought. We practiced our dribbling skills today in gym!

Question of the day: What was the new center that was introduced today?

Love.

100 days as kindergarten!

Dear Mom and Dad:

Hooray! Today I am 100 days smarter! This is definitely a big accomplishment to celebrate.

We had a fun time today in the new kindergarten senior home! Some of us dressed up as if we were 100 years old! Thank you for those students who brought their 100 items today. If you did not get a chance to bring in a ziplock of 100 things, please bring them tomorrow (for the AM) and Monday (for the PM).

AM class: Mrs. Southworth and Mrs. Quilley worked with us today with robots!! Ask me to tell you all about this.

Question of the day: Finish this sentence: “I want 100 ________. I do not want 100 _________”

Love,
