New guests in kindergarten!

**Hats off to mental health tomorrow!! Wear a hat tomorrow to show your support for mental health

**AM kindergarten zoo fieldtrip forms due Thursday morning

Dear mom and dad:

We have enough rocks. Thank you very much. We do not need you to send anymore in :)

Today we talked about even and odd numbers. We also talked about a big math word....symmetry! Ask me to tell you what symmetry means. Today I drew dots on a lady bug I created yesterday and the dots had to be symmetrical.

Ask me to tell you what has moved into the tank in our classroom!!

Question of the day: what has moved into the tank in our classroom?

All about ladybugs

*Please keep the rocks coming!! Thank you

Dear Mom and Dad:

We have been learning a lot about ladybugs. Ask me to tell  you 3 things I know about ladybugs.

Thank you to all of the students who brought in rocks! We still need lots more. If you have not brought in rocks yet please send one or more with your child for tomorrow. We are doing a special art activity but shhhhh it’s a surprise.

We are going on a field trip to the zoo! AM field trip forms have already been sent home. PM forms will be sent home sometime this week.

The AM class celebrated music Monday this morning by singing our peace songs outside on the compound. Today at 11am, children from all around Canada gathered together to celebrate music!

Question of the day: Post on the blog something new you learned today about ladybugs.

The Letter I

Dear Mom and Dad:

Today we took a closer look at the vowel “I”. Ask me to tell you what sound I makes. I can remember this by pointing down to the top of my head and making the sound”i-i-i-i-I” the ball goes “i-i-i-i-i-i-I-in” the basket. Ask me to tell you what animal we drew today that starts with an I.

Ask me to tell you about a tank setup that we have in our classroom! We are not sure what will be going in there. Today I thought about the size and what was in the tank to make some predictions.

Questions of the day: What do you think will be moving into our tank?

Welcome back

Dear Mom and Dad:

After a full week of physical activity with our swimming curriculum, we are back and ready to get back into our classroom routine. Mrs. Monteith's last day was on Thursday. We missed having her in our classroom today but wish her well as she embarks on her journey as a teacher!

AM: we started off the morning with a knowledge building cirxle (KBC). Ask me to tell you what this is. Today the topic was about ladybugs. We then did a guided drawing of a lady bug and wrote in our journals

PM: ask me to tell you what we did with our guest teachers this afternoon. Ask me to tell you about some of the new centres we have as well.
PM parent volunteers. Please re-email Lindsay Ingram (email is in left upper column) if you would like to volunteer. Her computer shut down and she does not have all of your emails anymore. Thank you!

Question of the day: post on the blog what you know or wonder about ladybugs.

Swimming Week

*Our next new blog post will be next Tuesday. There is no school on Friday and Monday.

Day one of swimming was a success!

Parents could you please have your child take off and put on their clothes independently. This will help them be independent during swimming this week.

Thank you to all of our parent volunteers! Parents, if you are volunteering please meet us at the pool. Please also keep in mind that you are there to help all of the students and not just your own. Thank you for your help and time, we really appreciate it :)

SWIMMING

**The whole kindergarten triad will be taking one bus at the same time. But our swimming program is split into two groups. The way that our swim schedule has been booked, there is very little time for a snack.

-Please send your child with only ONE dry snack instead of a wet snack.  - A dry snack is something that doesn’t need to be wiped up if spilled. A wet snack are things like yogurt, apple sauce, jello etc.
- Please choose or pack the snack item so that it is easy to open. For example, If it is a granola bar, cutting a slit ahead of time will be helpful so your child can open it independently.

Please review the blue letter that was given to you last month so you know what you need to pack. It would be very helpful if your child ate a big meal before sending them to school.

AM class: NEXT WEEK, all AM students need to be at the kindergarten doors no later than 8:00am instead of 8:15am. The bus leaves at 8:15am so we will be letting the students in at 8:00am. Students will need to be picked up at the kindergarten doors at 11:00am.

Drop off: 8:00am at door 2 (kindergarten doors)
Pick up: 11:00am at door 2 (kindergarten doors)

PM class: NEXT WEEK, all PM students need to be at the kindergarten doors no later than 12:00pm. The bus leaves at 12:15pm. Students will need to be picked up at the kindergarten entrance doors at 2:50pm.

Drop off: 12:00pm at door 2 (kindergarten doors)

Pick up: 2:50pm at door 2 (kindergarten doors)
